Our History
pop design group (‘pdg’) has been in operation in Calgary, Alberta since 2004. Julie Okamura and pop design group responded to acclaimed work done through her Canadian office by opening a studio in Los Angeles in 2009 for 7 years. Julie provides design expertise garnered over a 28-year career. By 2012, Julie and pdg were contracted by HGTV to contribute to their hit TV show ‘House Crashers’. Word-of-mouth from architects and residential & commercial clients have enabled pdg to grow into a power house of ideas that are embraced by television, print media and the Internet. The range of our work is exceptional because Clients’ needs are always first and foremost.

Our Principal
Julie Okamura is the founder and inspiring leader of pop design group. For 28 years, Julie has led talented teams on design projects from Calgary to Los Angeles. Julie’s effervescence and outstanding ability to oversee and inspire a variety of design projects has enriched her perspective and attracted a host of talented designers and specialists. Her sophisticated taste and fashion forward approach also drives the branding for pdg. A passionate leader, Julie is directly involved with clients, ensuring their projects are streamlined, stunning and on budget. Her creative teams are filled with innovative thinkers who are dedicated to delivering inspired design ideas that make each project truly pop.
Our Services
We are unique in that we apply architectural knowledge to interior design. Our services include the full spectrum: space planning, design, 3D renderings, construction drawings and specification documents… to interior finishes, fixtures, furniture and accessorizing.
